Howard Britz Piano, Bass Player and Composer, a Biography. THE EARLY YEARS IN LONDON, ENGLAND Versatile and creative Pianist, Bassist and composer Howard Britz was born in London, England 1961. He played trumpet then saxophone in high school and had begun to play professionally when a jaw injury forced him to give up wind instruments. Switching to bass at 17 years old he also started composing. After attending Guildhall School of Music in London he played in the London and UK scene from 1985. HOWARD BRITZ - JAZZ SCHOLARSHIP IN BOSTON AND NEW ENGLAND CONSERVATORY In 1995 he made the move to the US taking up a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA then transferring to New England Conservatory and graduating in 1995. During the Boston years played with some of the great artists on the scene at the time including saxophonists Seamus Blake, Bill Pierce and Jacques Schwartz- Bart, pianist Danilo Perez, vocalist/composer Luciana Souza, The Jazz Composers Alliance and composer/pianist Guillermo Klein’s Big Van as well as many Latin Jazz and Salsa groups. HOWARD BRITZ - PHILADELPHIA JAZZ SCENE Moving to Philadelphia, PA in 1996 to join his wife who was studying at the University of Pennsylvania, Howard didn’t know a soul there but quickly found a fertile music scene going on. Although somewhat off the radar of many these days, Philly had some great musicians and he was soon in demand for a variety of Jazz groups, vocalists, Salsa and Latin Jazz groups. Philly was also a great finishing school with all of the clubs, after work lounges and bars around the area, a real working Jazz musicians scene. HOWARD BRITZ GROWTH AS A COMPOSER IN BROOKLYN AND HIS FIRST CD In 1998 Howard moved to Brooklyn, New York and recorded his first CD. Released in 1999, ‘The Future, The Past’ was made with some of great musicians he had played with in Philly, with pianist/composer Uri Caine, trumpeter John Swana, and drummer, Byron Landham. With original compositions by Britz it was a mature statement by a deeply soulful and experienced musician and composer. Quickly establishing contacts with New York players and old ex-Boston contacts he started working around the city and doing some touring. 2ND CD ‘MADE IN BROOKLYN‘ In 2005 he released his second CD, ‘Made In Brooklyn‘ with a crew of top NY musicians, including drummers Terrion Gully and Anthony Pinciotti, saxophonists, Jacques Schwartz-Bart and Casey Benjamin and pianists James Hurt and Helio Alves The album also documented a group of musicians who were regularly getting together to play, jam and experiment and record as well as playing on gigs together. Some tracks were made in these informal sessions and some recorded more traditionally at Tedesco studios in NJ. ‘HERE I STAND' Britz’ third CD released in 2007 is perhaps his most cohesive and successful artistic statement. A quintet recording of eight original compositions featuring George Colligan on piano, David Smith, trumpet, Casey Benjamin, saxophone and Sylvia Cuenca, drums. The CD received excellent reviews for the playing and writing, it contains all the elements that you hear in Britz’ playing, inventive melody, driving swing, latin influenced grooves, intelligent yet accessible songs. HOWARD BRITZ - PIANO PLAYER & COMPOSER From around 1998, Howard had also become interested in the possibilities of playing piano as well. He had long used the piano as a composing aid but had never developed the technique or chops to really play live. He set himself the task of playing piano professionally. His first serious instrument being a saxophone back in High School, he never lost the sense of loving melody and solos which are not the main role of the bass. Having worked for at the piano for many years, he recorded a CD that came out in 2013 called ‘The Feeling of Jazz’, featuring, the great saxophonist, Donny McCaslin guesting on two tracks and bassist Bill Moring and drummer Eric Halvorson. On August 13th 2021 he released his fifth recording as a leader, ‘COMFORT AND JOY’ The Howard Britz Trio featuring the music of pianist Howard Britz, whose music is melodic, open hearted, emotional and feel good. Drawing from Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Gospel and Brazilian traditions with unique compositions that tell musical stories and bring listeners in to an intriguing world of ideas, sound, groove and feeling.

Born Tyler Andrews, Prodagii is a rapper and lyricist from Statesboro, Georgia. Prodagii was born on April 16, 1998. He leans towards a darker hip-hop style that incorporates musical elements from styles like jazz, classical, rock, and a wide variety of musical styles and forms. Lyrically and stylistically inspired by acts like 2pac Shakur, Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Twister, and the Wu Tang Clan, Prodagii always shows a high level of lyrical proficiency fused with sophisticated rhythmic nuances in his deliveries. Growing up as a kid, life wasn’t all rosy for Prodigii as he was raised in a low-income family and constantly struggled with moving from place to place in search of shelter. According to Prodagii, for the most part of his life, his father was in jail for selling drugs. He was raised by a single mother and an abusive stepfather. This forced him [Prodagii] to move out of the house from his mom and stepfather when he was only 15. He struggled and faced a tough life until he finally graduated. Prodagii made it clear that his passion for music started when his cousin would play some underground music and some ‘weird Japanese anime-type beats.’ He would go to sleep and wake up hearing those abstract sounds in his head. This was an important period in the formative years of his life and musical talent. He would rap during lunch with his friends but finally started recording in 2016. The abstract sounds he heard and the lyrical/musical flows of rappers like Kendrick Lamar played a major role in the development of his distinct hip-hop style. According to Prodagii, he only writes music that speaks to the soul and reflects the current realities around him and in his life. That way, his listeners can truly relate to his sounds and lyrics. Prodagii is currently based in Atlanta, Georgia. He is doing music full time.

She toured in three continents with Snow and met Grammy and Juno winning producer Chris Birkett (Sinead O’Connor, Buffy Sainte-Marie etc) at Indie Week Toronto. These passages of enlightenment are symbolized by the following spirit animals: a snake, a swan, a crow and a snow bunting. “My message with this album is that all the wisdom you need is inside of you. The snake is guarding this ancient and intuitive knowledge, and you just need to wake up your inner voice to access it,” GEA explains.

One of the earliest moments Yyork could remember as a child is the rhythmic sounds of a canvas topped drum, or Dholak, being beaten to the chants and cheers of the people in his hometown. Prior to pursuing the music and media industry, Yyork had studied Psychology, which had only deepened the mysteries and allure of what it meant to be the self and why we ,as humans, are so connected to rhythm. Throughout his schooling he had experimented with music production, and sound design which has led him to become the creator that he is today. Through the mediums of song writing, music production, visual arts, and creative direction, Yyork strives to understand what makes his world dance to the Dholak that still beats in the back of his head. Ever since then, Yyork is truly understanding more about what it means to share these visions with amazing minds that strive to make seemingly impossible things attainable.

In 2015 BAzzJoke (BAss and Joker) discovered several DJ sets of big artists such as Hardwell and Martin Garrix online. A few weeks later, fully motivated, he turned his bedroom into a little stage. With only one two-channeled DJ controller, BAzzJoke instantly taught himself to mix EDM. In the following two years, he started DJing in youth clubs around his hometown in Switzerland with great success. In 2017, at the age of 14, he was already booked for the first club gig. After that, various club gigs throughout the german part of Switzerland followed. But the stage was not enough for BAzzJoke. Therefore in 2019 he started producing music and self-released his first song. Because of school, he had no more time for djing. But that did not stop him from producing melodic dance songs. In 2020 BAzzJoke’s online-music counts far more than 100'000 clicks throughout all streaming-platforms. Well, let us see what 2021 brings. Definitely, the journey is going to be continued…

Brian Larney is an eclectic, non-stop music making machine. The Connecticut native splits his time performing as a solo acoustic act and as the front-man of the Brian Larney Band. He's an alternative folk-rock singer-songwriter with an honest and thoughtful style that has been described as “quirky, earnest, and vulnerable.” It’s as rooted in the pop music writers of the mid-1960’s as the contemporary artists that he is often compared to. Larney grew up in the Northeast obsessed with well-crafted songs and the art of harmonizing. “ We didn't have a piano, so I would get to school at 6:00 AM and sneak into the choir room just to pick out songs and work on harmonies,” he says. As a songwriter, his early efforts were he says, “overly complicated 7-minute opuses.” Through his varied tastes as a listener—which span pop to bluegrass—and work as a gigging musician touring within a diverse array of bands, including the genres of power-pop, post-punk, acoustic and Americana, he gradually essentialized his songwriting style. Cutting edge AI company and music promotion team, Zenabi, describe the Larney sound best - "His songs are organic spoonfuls of classic pop and folk, naturally sweet, non- GMO, without the sugar crash; his style hearkens back to the days of Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles, and maybe a bit of Partridge Family."

Born near the forests and foothills of the southern German Alps, Berlin-based musician Hans Gnendinger was never more than a stone’s throw away from a land of nature and myth. Füssen, at the southern end of the Romantic Road, where violins and lutes are made, proved a nourishing breeding ground for the young composer. But it was on the streets and stages of Berlin that Hans honed his craft and success as a multilingual songsmith, guitarist, and performer. Fronting the trio Grizzly Bird, Hans merges his raw storytelling verve and intricate fingerpicking with the rhythmic sensation and powerful dynamics of a rock band. Grizzly Bird can move their audience from folk harmonies and quiet contemplation to ecstatic indie rock grooves, sometimes within a single song. Carried by Hans’ clear, lyrical voice, their songs offer us compelling narratives, subtle humour and humble observations about the state of the world. Hans began his career under the name Hans Sølo, releasing his first album, the introspective and kaleidoscopic Silence, in 2010. He then built a chamber pop ensemble with up to seven musicians to bring his compositions to stages and festivals in Germany and Europe. Some years and over a hundred concerts later, the playful and lushly orchestrated pop album Head in the Air was released in 2016. In 2017, wishing for a steadier and simpler line-up, Hans decided to ditch the ungoogleable Hans Sølo moniker and restart with a new band. With Florian Dietrich on drums and Nils Wenzel on bass, he found the right musicians to create maximum sonic impression as a trio. The group soon began recording Empathy, the debut album as Grizzly Bird. The name change also coincided with a move from more personal songwriting to universal, philosophical topics. Released in 2019 via The Famous Gold Watch Records, and mixed by Cameron James Laing at the eponymous studio in Berlin, Empathy is a concept album about animals and how we relate to them. In August 2020, Grizzly Bird entered The Famous Gold Watch studio to record four new songs written during that strange spring and summer in the shadow of the pandemic. The band ran a successful crowdfunding to print a vinyl of the new EP Somewhere Between in December, following the release of the first single The Drummer’s Trauma and its comedic video directed by Nick Scholey. It will be followed by The Lakes on February 26th, this time with a video directed by the band.

Los Angeles based singer-songwriter, Skender Beck, is a Kosovan born modern rock artist, whose debut album ‘STARS ALIGNED’ is released on October, 2020. Through the arena rock lens of bands like U2 and Kings of Leon, the album explores inner conflict, hope, love, and Beck’s personal journey from Kosovo to the United States. Beck’s smooth yet haunting vocal style gives his songs a modern theatrical depth that is reminiscent of singers like Brandon Flowers. While ‘STARS ALIGNED’ marks Beck’s solo artist debut, he is also an experienced performer, singer, and actor. Though he currently resides in Los Angeles, Beck’s love for music grew during his childhood in Kosovo. As a young child, he developed a passion for singing, as well as acting, and performed in numerous musicals throughout the country. He eventually began landing roles on Kosovan television and was catapulted into childhood stardom. During his adolescence, social unrest worsened in Kosovo, and he coped by listening to classic rock artists like Pink Floyd, The Talking Heads, and The Doors. Later, Beck began playing music and performing with bands--a hobby that stuck with him throughout his life. As a young adult, Beck studied theater in Kosovo where he received a Bachelor’s Degree, as well as two National Theater Awards for his acting. In 1997, Beck migrated to New York City to continue his education at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, and has remained in the United States since. The songs on the record are a culmination of Beck’s story and present circumstances, and after years of these songs swirling around in his mind, Beck finally decided to bring them to life. He wrote the lyrics, sang the vocals, and arranged the instrumentation himself, though he collaborated with professional studio musicians to help him perfect the guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards/synths for the recording. For several of the songs on the album, Beck worked with Grammy-nominated mix engineer Marc DeSisto, whose accolades include working with classic rock legends like Pink Floyd and U2. Lonny Paul, guitarist from the band Adler, also noted Beck’s modern take on classic rock, stating that it reminds him of “....a modern day Pink Floyd with a little Dire Straits influence. Great songs, and production.” While the album title suggests luck in the “stars aligning”, Beck’s passion for music, life experiences, and hard work are the main factors that brought this album into existence.

Originally from Port-au-Prince, Jah Nissi was born on October 12, his real name Ernst Toussaint. Passionate about football, his dream was to become a professional player. But given the opposition of his parents, he was forced to change his mind. In the neighbourhood where he lived, there was a church and it was there that he discovered something in him: the music. In the 90s, his father, who was living in Venezuela, advised them, his younger brother and him, to find someone to teach them music. This is how they met one of the best Haitian bassists today, Moise Thermitus. With him, Ernst learned bass and his brother, the solo guitar. A few years later, he formats the group "Conquistadores" which means: The conquerors. In 1996, his family emigrated to Venezuela. Ernst perfected his musical career at a music school where he learned to play drums. A few years passed, his brother, some friends and him, formed a band called "THE WILL" who changed to "Stars" thereafter. But internal conflicts divided the group, some of whom wanted to become non-Christian (pagan). So his brother, two musicians and he left the group. They formed the group "FIRE OF LIFE". The group did not stand up to financial problems. In 2005, he left Venezuela, for the United States to try to achieve his musical dream, but it did not work. Finally in 2007, he moved permanently to Canada. He works on his image, his goals, his identity and realizes his big dream: his album. His music is Reggae Roots. He has been influenced by various great singers and musicians such as: Bob Marley, Alpha Blondy, Tiken Jah Fakoly, Morgan Heritage, Bookman Experyans, Eddy Francois, Midnite Nasio Fontaine, and many others. These artists really give him the strength to fight for the lower class, so that's where he comes from. They understand their pains, their vicissitudes of life. Their music has greatly transformed him and they made him what he is today: a Roots musician. It is since he was in Canada that he has discovered his true identity. Now he is committed to lead a life of struggle, to advocate reconciliation in his texts. He sings the misery of his people, the despair of a great nation. In his music, we find hope, we can dream of a better tomorrow. He wants to bring the Unit. Jah Nissi, that's all, a messenger of hope.

“ d’Z’s New Orleans Groove Jazz Funk sound isn’t something that you’d necessarily expect to come out of the Netherlands, yet the Arnhem based songwriter, producer and drummer composed one of the most tantalisingly perfect anthems to introduce the summer. I can quite honestly say that never a Jazz-Funk track have I been bowled over by the lyrics at the same time as the massive sound which creates an up-beat cacophony of high vibe electricity.” A&R Factory "Amazing, amazing soulful, sultry vocals of Katie Léone. Keeps you coming back for more as you hear her sing from lows to highs and all in between. Absolutely ABOVE PERFECT collaboration by the entire band. WOW! WJMX-DB Smooth Jazz Boston Global Internet Radio would be honored to broadcast this MASTERPIECE track." In the beginning was silence, infinite vastness and ominous nothingness. In it was life, and that life starts with elevator music. What follows, however, is not prog’s cliché-ridden repetitiveness, but truly genretranscending songwriting: exit A head unites all their influences ranging from metal to jazz, from rock to contemporary music, to something new. Roots and influences always remain audible resulting in complex yet catchy songs. Authentic expression just cannot be boxed in. This is also true for the power trio’s line-up. Next to classical music, jazz and the ukulele, there is always the wonderful world of rock to indulge in. Following the release of their debut album VOID and winning two silver medals at the Global Music Awards (Rock & Album), the trio was about to tread the boards before Covid struck. Currently, exit A head is working on some new material, getting ready for the day when they can finally hit the stage again. Ready to fill the void!
